Using the same concept as sewing a regular sized tissue packet holder, I sewn one that was slightly bigger to fit the "mama"-sized ones. This was requested by my mom who wanted one so that she can accessorize her car.
It wasn't difficult as it requires only straight-line sewing. I didn't even need a pattern for this. =) YAY!
You can follow this instruction to make covers for the regular-sized tissue packets too. Hope you like this little tutorial!
1) Using the tissue packet, measure the amount of fabric you require. The 2 ends of the fabric should meet (and not overlap). Add 1 inch for seams.
2) You can either iron the seams down before sewing, or use pins to hold them down. I was feeling lazy that evening and so I used pins.
The right side of the fabric should be facing down (wrong side facing upwards toward you).
Sew the seams for the 2 ends of the fabric (length).
3) I added lace to accessorise the cover. This is really optional.
If you use lace, the lace should be placed on the right side of the fabric with about half the lace jutting out so that it will overlap with the other side when they meet.
4) Pin and Sew!
5) I forgot to take a photo for this step. Ops.
With the wrong side against the table and right side facing up, fold both the length of the fabric inwards until they meet. The lace should overlap UNDER the 2 lengths (not above).
I used pins to hold the lengths together so that the fabric would not open up when I sew. You can skip this if you are comfortable without this extra step.
Sew both the widths.
6) Flip the tissue holder rightside out and you are done! Voila!
SIMPLE, isn't it?
