Simple Drawstring Skirt

With the remnants from the dress I made, I sewed myself a drawstring skirt!

I am so proud of myself!

Here's the pattern. A really simple one.

1) Measure yourself. I used my hip as that is where I would like my skirt to fall. 18in x 2 (and add another 8 more inches for sewing allowance and gathers. If you prefer more gathers, you can add even more inches!).

2) On each side of the width, fold and iron 1/2inch twice. Then sew the side down (do this on both sides of the width). This will prevent fraying.

3) Do the same for the top and the bottom.

4) For the top casing, measure an inch (instead of 1/2 inch). This is where you insert the string for the drawstring skirt.

5) Bring the 2 widths together with the right side facing each other and sew. You should leave about 3 inches on top unsewn to give some allowance for slipping the skirt on (1 inch is the top casing and leave another 2 more inches unsewn).

6) Using a safety pin, run a string/ribbon across the top casing.
(For the length of the string, measure your waist size and add another 50% to the length. I wanted mine to fall at my hip. So I used my hip measurement instead.)

7) Your skirt is ready!

Something really simple and wearable!
